Jessica Alba's sheer playfulness

Usher may have stolen the show with his wardrobe malfunction at the recent Clinton Foundation Gala, but Jessica Alba made a sartorial impression as well.

The actress, who gave birth to her second child a little more than two months ago, attended the event at the Hollywood Palladium on the arm of her husband, Cash Warren. (She can be heard next in the animated film "Escape From Planet Earth," which is scheduled for release in 2012.) She looked trim and dainty in a pleated blue suede skirt, sheer blouse and black tights. She accessorized with a fuzzy black clutch and deep purple heels. The blue and purple created a soft, warm color palette and the blouse gave the outfit a sense of whimsy.

Alba's skirt is a great length for any number of occasions such as a cocktail party or even a regular workday. For a similar style, get the curved-hem pleated skirt from Topshop.com for $70 or the grosgrain waist pleated skirt from Thelimited.com for $14.99. For a style that's a tad shorter, get the panel skirt from Zara.com for $49.95.

A sheer blouse like Alba's can be a go-to item for something as simple as a flea market shopping trip or a fancier dinner party, just remember appropriate undergarments. To get Alba's look, try the aqua three-quarter sleeve pin-tuck top for $78 from Bloomingdales.com, Lumiani Madeline blouse for $59 from Zappos.com or embroidered mesh crop top from Freepeople.com for $88.

Alba's frayed clutch adds a striking textural contrast to her soft ensemble. For something similar, try the feather clutch bag from Asos.com for $43.65 or the opa faux fur bag from Chicos.com for $69 or the faux fur clutch bag from Topshop.com for $70.

Any pair of blue or black pumps would have worked with Alba's! outfit, but her purple heels were a slightly offbeat, playful choice. For a similar pair, try the Michael Antonio Adeline shoe with a loafer design from Zappos.com for $49.50 or the Mix No. 6 Octavia wedge pump for $39.95 from DSW.com.
