Hicks: Jessica Alba recalls recent health scare

Jessica Alba was rushed to a hospital in the middle of the night last week over fears she had suffered a stroke, according to WENN.

The actress was home with her husband, Cash Warren, when she lost feeling in her hand and began suffering a headache and heart palpitations.

Alba recently told talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, "Basically I thought I was having a stroke last week. I really, really thought I was. It was 2.30 in the morning and I woke up and my hand started to go numb. The whole entire thing went numb. It was dead, I couldn't move it. My whole arm went numb, I got cold sensations in the back of my neck to the front. I can't move my face."

So she did what any reasonable person in her situation would do. She asked the Internet what was wrong with her.

The Internet said her symptoms were in line with a stroke so -- naturally -- Alba tracked down her daughter's pediatrician.

"I texted my pediatrician," she said. "It's my kid's pediatrician, but it's the only person who will answer me at 2.30 in the morning. I texted him and I said, 'I have these symptoms, it's all going downhill.' He was like, 'You're a little young for this.'"

Alba was taken to a hospital for an MRI, which revealed carpal tunnel syndrome as the cause of the numbness.

She said "I have carpal tunnel in my wrist and elbow. The doctor was like, 'Actresses get carpal tunnel too.' I said, 'I actually have an Internet business and I'm

sitting at a computer a lot!'"

STEVE MARTIN BECOMES A DAD AT 67: Steve Martin just became a father. At age 67.

According to the New York Post, Martin and his wife of almost six years, Anne Stringfield, 41, welcomed a baby in December. The couple was supposedly spotted outside of their Los Angeles home with their brand-new bundle of joy.

Anyone ever think maybe they were baby-sitting, or that it was a rental or something?

"They've had a baby, and how they kept it a secret nobody knows," a source told the New York Post. "Steve's very private! ."

"They are thrilled," the insider said. "They worked hard to have the baby."

Yeah ... work. It's awful, but someone has to do it.

No details about the birth were reported.

According to the Huffington Post, Martin and Stringfield were together for three years before they tied the knot in a secret wedding ceremony in July 2007. Guests, including actors Tom Hanks, Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy, were invited to Martin's house for a party, but the pair surprised them by getting married.

WILLIAM SHATNER CALLS J.J. ABRAMS A PIG: William Shatner says J.J. Abrams is being a pig.

Well, don't beat around the bush, Bill. Tell us what you really think.

Shatner, the original Captain Kirk on television and in seven "Star Trek" films, doesn't think Abrams should be doing both the new "Star Trek" films, as well as the next "Star Wars" movies.

"No, he's being a pig," Shatner told the website Movie Fanatic. "He's collecting the two franchises and holding them close to his vest. He's probably the most talented director of that ilk that we have, but he's gone too far this time."

He probably said that like, "He's ... gone ... TOO ... far ... this ... time."

Granted, Abrams taking on both franchises -- arguably the two biggest sci-fi franchises in film history -- came as a surprise to many. He helmed the successful 2009 "Star Trek" reboot, and his "Star Trek Into Darkness" follow-up is set for a May 17 release. Abrams at first said he wouldn't direct "Star Wars," then changed his mind and took on the job.

Shatner and Abrams have clashed since Abrams took over the "Star Trek" franchise. There was speculation in 2008 that Shatner's Captain Kirk would appear in the rebooted "Star Trek," but the pair couldn't agree on how that would happen.

Abrams told AMC in 2008, "We actually had written a scene with him in it that was a flashback kind of thing, but the truth is, it didn't quite feel right. The bigger thing was that he was very vocal that he didn't want to! do a cam! eo. We tried desperately to put him in the movie, but he was making it very clear that he wanted the movie to focus on him significantly, which, frankly, he deserves. The truth is, the story that we were telling required a certain adherence to the Trek canon and consistency of storytelling. It's funny -- a lot of the people who were proclaiming that he must be in this movie were the same people saying it must adhere to canon. Well, his character died on screen. Maybe a smarter group of filmmakers could have figured out how to resolve that."

In other words: Bill, you had your big death scene years ago. Get over it.

Shatner responded to Abrams in a YouTube video, claiming he was never asked to appear in "Star Trek." Which didn't seem to bug him later on.

"I think of him as a buddy of mine," Shatner said. "I've taken him out for sushi. I think it's time for J.J. and I to have another sushi and let me put him straight about two of the largest franchises," Shatner said to Movie Fanatic, before joking, "not employing me in either one of them is just foolhardy."

He may have a point there.

LINDSAY LOHAN'S LAWYER CAN'T FIND HER: Lindsay Lohan will eventually have to be her own lawyer.

One of Lohan's lawyers is admitting she can't get in touch with Lohan and can't make the troubled actress sit down for a deposition in a pending lawsuit. The lawyer doesn't want to get blamed for Lohan's dumb behavior, according to TMZ.

Photographer Grigor Balyan recently filed documents saying Lohan has been too busy partying to give a deposition in his lawsuit against her. Balyan says Lohan's assistant drove into him while leaving a Hollywood nightclub back in 2010, with Lohan in the passenger seat.

Attorney Julia Azrael, who represents Lohan in the case, has filed documents saying she shouldn't be held responsible for Lohan's behavior.

According to TMZ, Azrael wrote, "I have made many efforts to convince Lohan to appear for her deposition. I do not know how to reach her direc! tly."

!

Has she tried calling Amanda Bynes' house?

In the documents, Azrael said she has to go through Lohan's other lawyer, Mark Heller, to reach her, and that Heller has been stringing her along.

This should end well.

THE DONALD DIDN'T LIKE THE SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW: Beyonc upset The Donald.

Why yes, perhaps it is a slow news day.

Donald Trump slammed Beyonce's Super Bowl halftime performance because of what he called "suggestive" dancing and inappropriate behavior onstage.

Right, this is the guy who runs that pageant in which women walk around in small swimsuits and answer dumb questions about how they'd go about changing the world.

According to the Huffington Post, Trump appeared on "The Howard Stern Show" last week and said "When Beyonc was thrusting her hips forward in a very suggestive manner, if someone else would have done that it would have been a national scandal. I thought it was ridiculous. I thought it was not appropriate," he said.

Maybe he should stop inappropriately thrusting his hair at the rest of us.

Beyonce's performance was generally applauded by critics. And though the outspoken Trump made clear that he found her show distasteful, he admitted he was in the minority. "There's been no mention of (her scandalous behavior). So obviously, it must not have been so bad. She gets a pass."

Thanks Donald.
