Report: Obama met with Alba, Penn

President Obama reportedly met with 25 Hollywood actors and actresses Thursday morning, including Jessica Alba and former underling Kal Penn, in an attempt to solicit their help in his reelection effort.

The meeting took place at the Beverly Hills Hilton as the president wrapped up a West Coast fundraising trip, according to GossipCop.

The meeting was part of Obamas Young America Effort, which focuses on energizing younger voters to go to the polls and support him, the report says.

Among those in attendance, besides Alba and Penn: Jeremy Renner, Zachary Quinto, Sophia Bush, Zach Braff and Jared Leto. (The Hollywood Reporter has photos from the event.)

Penn, the actor and former White House staffer, tweeted later:

Had a great morning w/ @BarackObama in LA. Talked about job creation, education, our troops, & getting YOU involved! bit.ly/uHW5Cy Kal Penn (@kalpenn) June 7, 2012

Several others in attendance also took to Twitter to mark the occasion, with Ian Somerhalder calling it a totally surreal morning.
