But Jessica Alba admitted to having a great time as she headlined the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy today.

Looking effortlessly elegant, the stunning actress walked the red carpet of the world's biggest children's film festival in a white cocktail dress with tan trim.

'I had such an amazing time #giffoni2012,' tweeted the actress immediately after the red carpet event.

Smiling for the cameras, the Fantastic Four actress showed off her European tan, the result of the week spent on holiday in Italy.

She wore her dark hair parted down the middle and pulled back from her face in a simple pony tail.

Her jewellery was equally simple but effective: diamond studs paired with large gold hoop earrings.

Jessica's strappy heels picked up the tan colour of her dress trim and spaghetti belt, which was tied loosely at the ba! ck of he r waist.

The 31-year-old mother of two has been on holiday in Italy this week with her children and mother Catherine.

Jessica has been tweeting up a storm during her European vacation, sending regular photographs of her Amalfi Coast adventures to her more than three-and-a-half million followers on the social network site.

In addition to tweeting a photo of herself on stage at the opening of today's film festival, the Hollywood A-lister also posted a photo taken as she sat in the back of a boat, heading to the red-carpet event.

'Channeling Jackie O,' she wrote above the photo, which showed her decked out in a bright orange and pink strapless top and matching head scarf.

And in a third Twiiter photo posted yesterday, the stunning actress sits at the bow of another boat against the stunning back drop of the Amalfi Coast cliffs.

Looking terrific as ever, the Machete star wore a white cotton singlet top and full-length lemon skirt, her face shielded from the sun by a large white hat.

It is the actress's second trip to Europe this month, having attended the Versace Haute Couture show in Paris in the first! week of July, where she wowed onlookers in a stunning strapless beaded leather dress.

It's been a whirlwind past few weeks for the Sin City actress, who last month wrapped filming the action exploitation film Machete Kills.

The movie, which has been shooting in Texas, is a sequel to director Robert Rodriguez's 2010s cult favourite Machete.

Alba, who appeared in the first film, is reprising her role as U.S. immigration Agent Sartana Rivera.
