Actress Jessica Alba mixes up the seasons for a fresh look.

Jessica Alba head out is a colourful combination of a Doo.ri coat, Erdem trousers, a Barbara Bui top and Acne heels.

It's raining in London and in New York. But what cares a fashion follower for that? Particularly one whom, like Jessica Alba, gets to only ever travel in a blacked-out 4x4.

Still, I'm not bitter (damp, yes, but not bitter) and my heart skipped a beat when I clocked the actress in this chic mash-up of resort, spring and pre-fall; an upbeat reminder that this rain, too, will pass.

The trousers are Erdem, from a resort collection that progressed exotically from the designer's darkly passionate autumn/winter 2011 mood. In case you hadn't noticed, the big bloom - from Valentino to Wallis - is this year's ubiquitous style motif. Invest in it wisely though: by the end of the summer you might just feel like you've spent too long in the greenhouse at Kew Gardens.

Still, florals feel fresh right now, in the rain, and particularly teamed with this brilliant Doo.Ri coat that could defy trends for seasons to come. However, it's from the pre-fall collection so you'll have to wait until the summer - when you're way too hot to think about coats - to get hold of one for yourself. Ah, Fashion, the games you play
